A one-year evening course at the University of Calcutta in collaboration with the Publishers and Booksellers Guild. www.caluniv.ac.in
National Book Trust:
organizes a four-week regular course in publishing and bookselling annually in Delhi. It also organizes two-week workshops at intervals in different parts of India. www.nbtindia.org.in
Intensive course on editing:
IBP has also started a six-day intensive course on editing and the second intensive course on editing is slated for June 3-10, 2009. The courses are held at India International Centre, New Delhi. www.ibpindia.org
PGD in book publishing:
Indira Gandhi National Open University in collaboration with Federation of Indian Publishers plans to start the programme in July. www.ignou.ac.in

Editors:
Editors are required by the publishers to give shape to the ideas of the author and they are the backbone of the industry. Post-graduation in English or any other regional language is required and they can gain experience through practical training. Salary: Rs. 10,000 onwards.
Production managers:
They are required to get books printed and coordinate with various manufacturing departments to present a complete book. A BSc/diploma in printing technology or even a BA can apply for this post and learn on the job as well. Salary: Rs. 10,000 onwards.
Promotion managers:
They are required to promote books. Required: A Bachelors degree in mass communication/journalism or even a BA. Salary: Rs. 15,000 onwards.
